- IDO NOT support CRT in K-12 education.
- It is not being taught in Canon City Schools.
What are your beliefs regarding COVID protocols for Canon City Schools?
- I support the district working collaboratively in the best interest for the health and safety of all students and the community to minimize the dangers of COVID.
- I believe in following the guidelines of public health officials
- I believe that in-person learning is the most effective learning and every effort should be made to keep our schools open safely.
What are your beliefs regarding inclusion?
- I believe all students deserve to be treated with dignity and respect by school district personnel and other students.
- I believe we are obligated by law to protect all students from bullying of any kind.
What are your beliefs regarding academics?
- I support adherence to the academic standards required by Colorado.
- I support rigor, depth of understanding and applicability of academics.
What are your beliefs regarding the Arts?
- I believe that fostering a student’s creative and artistic abilities is crucial to developing well-rounded, solution-seeking critical thinkers.
- I believe the visual and performing arts are an integral part of quality education.
- I believe every effort should be made to maintain and/or improve these opportunities for our kids.
What are your beliefs regarding the importance of Athletics/Extra-curricular programs?
- I believe athletics & Extra-curricular programs are an important opportunity for students to discover their own strengths, to learn to collaborate, to discover the importance of dedication and determination and the benefits of synergistic team work—all 21st Century Skills.
- I believe every student should have the opportunity and be encouraged to become their best academic, athletic, and artistic self to prepare themselves for life in a global economy where these 21st Century Skills are a necessity.
What are your beliefs regarding Vocational Education Opportunities?
- I believe the world needs skilled tradesman, and we are proud of the tremendous opportunities our students who choose to start their training for a trade early have through our Vocational Education Programs.
- I believe every effort should be made to maintain and/or improve the opportunities for our kids.
Do you believe parents should have a voice in education?
- I believe parents are a part of the educational partnership with the school and the student.
- I believe parents have multiple opportunities to communicate with teachers and school leaders: phone, e-mail, text, newsletters, school/classroom websites and of course parent/teacher conferences.
- I believe that collaboration and understanding home and classroom perspectives is critical to student success!
